- Ok, then. I finally got my testing apparatus fixed up again, since the new scale came in.
Here is a piece of fiberglass cloth - 1 single layer of cloth - with Epoxy resin covering it on both sides.
It is clamped in between pieced of plywood, which are hooked up to the bottom of the scale, and the bottom end, chained to a 2 x 3 to apply pressure.
This photo was taken at about the max pull weight, showing 455 lbs. PastorCharlie wrote:

Ok. New scale on the way. Should be here tomorrow. This one is good for 600 lbs instead of only 300.
Hopefully, I can keep this one in one pieces.
The S hook looks like it might not hold 660 Lbs. I would stand under it with that weight hanging on it.
No problem. I will gladly let you stand under it with the weight on it! Lol.....- PastorCharlieExplorer

Wasn't trying to.
But it happened.
I was in the middle of testing the strength of 2 different items, when the one gave up the ghost sooner than I thought, and when it did, pieces started to fly that weren't supposed to.
As a result, my scale is now broken.
That's the thing about electronics. The screens don't take very much abuse. One good punch to the face, and it's all over. The left side of the screen still has a little display, but the rest is history.
Another one is on the way, so I can finish the test and post the results, hopefully, within a few days. DewLess wrote:
I think we should also be honoring the wife of 50 years. Using this project as an example this has to be a very strong and forgiving Lady. Congratulations
Definitely. Has to be forgiving to put up with me!joerg68 wrote:

Absolutely. We try to have a good time on a daily basis. If you can't find humor, make it!ro_sie wrote:
Congratulations on 50 great and wonderful years. You are so lucky she let you stay this long! You are a lucky man.
What makes you think I am the lucky one? Maybe she is the lucky one! Lol. Yea, just kidding. I tell every one, she got the short end of the stick, and I married up.
Everyone has their moments, I don't care who it is.
In some ways it doesn't seem that long.- DewLessExplorerI think we should also be honoring the wife of 50 years. Using this project as an example this has to be a very strong and forgiving Lady. Congratulations
