- cbr46ExplorerSome people just don't like rain. I get that.
T'day should be very light. About the only traffic will be going over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house to roast chestnuts over an open fire. RATS! I just realized the bombardment of Christmas tunes is about to start. :M
I'll be going 300 miles out Saturday and coming back late Sunday. Not looking forward that one.
Safe travels,
- c bob - Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerWhy would the rain prevent you from leaving?
- SteeljagExplorerTraveling on Thanksgiving should be good, most people will be where they want to be on that day. However, as stated above, any service needs will be a problem.
- LynnandCarolExplorerWe have traveled on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day in the past and the Interstate traffic was really light! You should pack some sandwiches and snacks as the only food place that was open was Awful (waffle) house...lol
- americanrascalExplorerWe plan to make a run down to Tallahassee in our "A" after gorging ourselves early on turkey and ham. About a 5 hour run from where we live but no major cities and great roads-- and won't need to refuel. Can't make up my mind whether to take toad and dolly or to leave it home. Other than being a bit cool weather seems good.
- dockmasterdaveExplorerWe traveled last Thanksgiving and will be doing the same this year.
We bring the Thanksgiving dinner with us, and have it when we get where we are going.
We try to stay on 2 lanes. Very light traffic that way.
Started loading up last night. - Golden_HVACExplorerFriday you will find major traffic jams near every mall!
Thursday should not be a bad day to travel. Places like large cities, such as LA CA, the traffic can be really bad, as everyone is going to see family, then some are drinking a little to much and trying to drive home.
The interstates should be fairly light traffic, with most big rig truckers home for the holidays. You might find it difficult to get gas in some small rural towns, but most large gas stations long a interstate should be open.
Good luck!
Fred. - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIWe have traveled on holidays before but it depends where we are going. Naturally I would not travel through St. Louis this Thursday but usually if your trip involves a major city, like Atlanta, the traffic during a major holiday is usually much lighter.
Not that you will have any problems but I do remember one poster mentioning that CoachNet had trouble finding a mechanic to respond on Easter. Not surprising since most garages are closed.
