Anyone use a First alert 10 year CO detector ?

i have two of them installed for the last year and they just sit there and run. They also have some algorithm that compares CO vs. Smoke content in the air and adjusts the alarm level accordingly. Hopefully that will help eliminate false positives from the kitchen. I also have a separate Cao detector with an LCD PPM display on it that's good to glance at when running the generator on still air nights.

I replaced my hardwired Co detector with a Firstalert and I replaced my smoke detector with a battery operated one too. The hardwired ones kept giving me problems. So far I'm on the original batteries, but it is very true that temps can shorten battery life. I keep my motorhome indoors in California so it doesn't get any extreme temp swings.

I never was aware that the CO detectors should be replaced every 7-10 years till mine in the MH started chirping several months ago. Stuck a new battery in it then it started again the other day. Then I see the notice "replace after xyz." Did some reading and the light dawned in the dark continent. Dang, maybe should replace my who knows how old it is one in the S&B too.

From what I have read it is now recommended that smoke detectors be on the same replacement schedule.

What is needed is a dual chamber detector that will detect CO and smoke from a slow smoldering fire such as may start in a R/V because of electrical fires and fast burning smokeless fires.

After a lot of research and talking to Kidde, they assured me that this one would work in a home and also A RV,there is no difference.

I suggest you read all the info and make your decision on this but I replaced the ones in my Class C with this one.They are rated for 10 years
and most are only rated for 5,If your RV is older than 5 years old and they haven't been changed they are most likely no good. Mine needed to be replaced so this was a good deal for me, I had a hard wired one and I chucked it for the battery powered ones, they can be checked before each trip by pushing the test button in the center of the unit.

I never tried the First Alert. I did try a 9 volt battery that was good for 7 years. I believe I bought them at Lowe's

I wrote the date on the batteries, just to keep track, and installed them in smoke alarms. They lasted 6-8 months.
