Anyone use a First alert 10 year CO detector ?

I bought a first alert CO detector for the bedroom to replace the out of date original one. It stated it had a 10 year non-replaceable battery, so I thought that would be a great way to go. It has a digital thermometer and a "Peak level" display.

Well, after a year, it started beeping and the "End" of life was being displayed. When I looked at the manual, it stated that cold or hot temperatures will shorten battery life.... ?

Has anybody else tried one of these, and I would like to know what others have been happy with.

THanks for your help,

jeff

  • I installed the 10 year type at home in a couple of spots which are hard to reach.
Useless junk. Lots of false alarms.
Decided to cut my losses, pulled them down and went back to the usual kind.
  • Not the exact model but I've got a First Alert CO and Smoke combination. It's been installed for probably 5 or 6 years. Mine has a replaceable battery and I've replaced it 3 or so times. It has worked fine since I've had it.

Well, that probably wasn't much help but wanted to post something since you probably feel pretty alone.
