I have absolutely NO clue why you are so negative about buying a class A from this dealer, but maybe you have been screwed many times in the past??? LOL. But you have been very negative from the get go and I think that may just be your personality and assumption that everybody is looking to screw everybody. And though you will laugh at this, I also believe there may be a tad of jealousy involved at the price I’m getting it for.
It’s close enough and accurate enough to give you a decent idea and a fair concept of price to work with and if it says $236,000, you can’t just ARBITRARILY toss it out the window based upon absolutely nothing at all other than your “opinion” that its not accurate!!!
But personally I believe it’s extremely presumptuous and arrogant to just scream out and lash out that the NADA values are incorrect as if you were a walking encyclopedia of 2009 model Monaco’s.it!
Even though you’re been on here since 2014 it’s obvious you have only recently been active...last 2 months. Doug Rainer is without a doubt one of the BEST resources on here...most LISTEN when he offers advice. He’s a master RV tech at a large dealership in TX and offers excellent advise on here for free. He has forgotten more than what most of us will ever know about RVs. You are WAY off base.
I recently bought a 08 Navigator (top of the line) with 40k miles plus $50K in addition options for $165K. So much for NADA. I’ll take Doug’s “opinion” over your knowledge ever day.
Sorry for delay in update but been a busy few days dealing with this. This deal is not gonna happen and I’m not the happiest man in the world right now! Had my heart set on it and the issue is with Ally Financial, who made one of the stupidest decisions that I could ever possibly imagine. So ridiculous I’m in the middle of writing an email to the CEO which will probably get blown off. But thought I’d take a break and read the last few posts. Not worth getting into but revolves around running it through the business versus personal financing. 58 years old and I’ve dealt with more financing and loans and banks than most in my adult life and can tell you I’m still in utter disbelief at what took place!!!! Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. Anywho...
Doesn’t matter if you’re a master technician or what you are. Nobody but nobody can see that unit from afar. Nobody has walked it and nobody has inspected it so making opinions as to its “worthiness” is a crapshoot and a needle in the haystack at best. The vast majority of the replies were very good replies and were answering as it needed to be answered without speculation in the unit itself. They were giving the areas to look for, explaining the systems, telling me the pros and the cons. But that’s where it has to stop. You can’t go on and “predict” that this coach is a bad buy because of a bad salesman. You cannot connect the dots no matter how hard you want to try!
I forget who it was but in one of the last few posts the term was used that its being dumped. I disagree. Why do you assume that every single RV on the market that is being sold used is being dumped? Just because ised doesn’t mean it was dumped. Again, that is speculation and that has to be based on something, and in this case I don’t see how there’s any facts that prove it was dumped?
Trading in on a nicer unit, trading in on a newer unit, trading in on a larger unit, training in on a smaller unit, selling it because it’s no longer used as they thought, upsizing or downsizing for whatever reason, repossessions, there are just lots and lots of reasons why a unit would be selling used without it being “dumped” as a bad unit.
So if somebody comes on here and is asking advice, I think the way that the advice was given was correct, again, with the vast majority of posters here by telling me what to look for, what to be careful on, pros and cons. But there had to be a couple that took it a step further and screamed out how it’s being dumped, or it’s junk, or i’d run away as fast as you can. And all of that was based on? Absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. Blanks were being filled with information that could not be obtained by this thread.
So it doesn’t matter if you’re a master technician, it doesn’t matter how long you have been working on class A’s, you STILL cannot look at a picture of something and give mechanical advice and say RUN!!! Honestly that’s just extremely absurd!.
I’m a 35 year retired Master repair plumber. I too have forgotten more about plumbing than most will ever know. I’ve written articles, I’ve trained others, and at NO point during my career or even today, could I look at a picture of a house and tell you to run because the plumbing is JUNK, especially based on the fact that the real estate agent selling the house was an idiot! LOL.
It would be very amiss of me to look at any pictures of a house on the Internet and tell somebody to run as fast as they can without having done an inspection of the house myself. And it doesn’t matter how many years I’ve been doing It. So sorry I disagree with you. To say that Doug has oodels and oodels of experience would ONLY apply if he inspected that motorhome and then gave me that advice. But to tell me to run away as fast as I can based on a picture and a salesman, well, as I said in my post, that’s filling in a lot of blanks with weak speculation.
And being a master plumber also doesn’t mean that I am an expert on home price values and because he’s a master technician still does not mean that he knows more about values then NADA. Anyone at all who would look at a motorhome that’s priced $30,000 to $60,000 under NADA value I think would feel VERY confident about their deal!!!
Especially when almost every single person on this forum immediately gives the advice to go to NADA and check out the value before you buy one!
