Overall Height ???

I'm in the process of designing a garage/workshop & I'm really not sure how tall to build the building. In the near future I will be purchasing a crew cab dually pickup & more than likely I will be putting an Arctic Fox camper in the bed.

For those of you who have any similar set-ups, what height of garage door will let you in "or ceiling height if you have a sliding door".
Also, the truck camper will have an A/C unit on it.

Thanks for any & all information - I need all the lessons learned that I can get.

    The commercial garages have 15' doors. My old rig was 11'3" but had no AC sticking up.

    My truck and AF 990 come in about 1 inch less than 12 feet high.

    Tall enough that you can use the jacks to load and unload the TC inside the workshop or work on the roof with the TC in the truck bed.

    A 14' door will accommodate anything that is road legal because the limit is 13' 6". My camper, loaded on my Chevy dually, is 11' 5" to the top of the AC unit. This is a non-basement model. If you get one with a basement it will be taller.

    Without question. I'm at 11'-6" with my air conditioner. I've seen some of the really big boys post here that hover around 12' to 12'-3". Being that this is a permanent structure and you don't know if you'll ever own a 5er, 14' door is the safest way to go.

    And I have a basement.

    There are a few of us over 12' 6" here. Many of us start with a 4X4 truck, so that puts us up there from the beginning.

    The rig in my sig line is 12'5" to the top of the A/C unit. I built an enclosed RV garage with a 13' H x 12'W rollup, clears without a problem. To go the extra foot to get to 14' just wasn't worth it to me.

    Touch under 12'8". Stock tires.

    Bigger is mo' better...

    Remember, many 'roll-up' doors, have an actual open height less than the door dimensions, as they hang on the track. 12' won't necessarily give you 12'.

    I've been a part of various discussions on this subject, and everyone always says 14'

    a 14' door will clear any type of RV.

    My shop, which was present when I bought my current house, has a 12' door. My AF811 on a 2009 Chevy dually clears by only about 1.5".
