It all comes down to floor plan...a good floor plan makes the unit much more usable and also makes it "Feel" bigger. We can still get to our bath and storage with the slide in, that was one of the criteria when we were shopping. And you can also get opposing slides on any kind of RV now. So neither of these are a function of MH vs 5er, but of the floorplan of the RV.
Regarding the rear main seal, my point is that one advantage of a towable is keeping the mechanicals separate from the RV, so a breakdown issue means you can stay in the RV while the truck is being repaired. Slightly off topic I guess since we are talking roominess.
