- CSGExplorerI see a plain white cargo van and I still think RV. I have a PW Traverse which is pretty stealthy but I'd like to sell it and get a high top Sprinter cargo van and keep it rock simple. Maybe just peepholes...
- BudJExplorer"It's funny how people keep thinking I mean stealth when I don't . Maybe I am not articulating very well?"
Naio, 'stealth' with a B means that it does not look like an RV which is mostly what you are talking about. The stealth B is not shouting HEY, look at me I'm an RV.
It is very unlikely that I won't know a B when I see it since I've been around B's and forums for quite awhile. If stealth is needed, the 170 and 190 B owners hope they are seen as having a 'Conversion van'. It will work with a lot of the population but not with someone like me or most of the folks on this forum.
Stealth means not looking like an RV.
Bud - NaioExplorer IIInteresting to see what folks feel catches the eye and what does not. As a new RVer, awnings in their shells do not really say 'RV' to me. They are similar to the long pieces of 6" PVC that plumbers (and others) use to haul materials on the roof, for example.
It's funny how people keep thinking I mean stealth when I don't :). Maybe I am not articulating very well? It's just that I notice a Roadtrek (with the decals and all) from two blocks away, in a city. It sticks out. I don't like to be so noticeable -- not because I am hiding, I just don't like the attention. Same reason I dress plainly and don't holler a lot in public.
An obvious RV also seems like a target for breakins, even parked in front of my S&B.
For me it's color that sticks out. If everything -- awning shell, AC, roof vent, etc. -- is the same color as the body, and there is not more writing (name brands, etc.) or striping than regular cars, then it blends in. Although the dropped floor is also pretty eye-catching... - gerrym51Explorer IImost roadtreks built in the last 3 years have compressor fridge.
only the 170,190 and 210 have 3 way. all the rest including zion have compressor fridge.
at night is a awning that noticeable(not out but rolled up in it's case).
air conditioners on roofs of long vans are quite commmon.
again at night (unless running) are they that noticeable?
seems to me the usefulness of an awning outweighs it's negatives-unless your a person that never uses the awning-if you use it you are glad to have it.
seems to me the high fantastic fan vent covers(maxair etc) are far more noticable - DavyddExplorerOur Advanced RV has no awning. An awning, especially on a Sprinter sticking up in the air is a dead give away that it is an RV. I've noticed while out here in the southwest the air conditioning not so much because many commercial vans have rooftop air conditioning.
To me that classic Roadtrek 170 reads RV all the way. - stan909ExplorerTake off the awning and the refer panel and the Roadtrek would be quite stealthy but Sportsmobile and Advanced can use 12 volt compressor fridge's that have no outside vents . Sportsmobile also uses AC units that are out of sight. Other than an awning and roof air David's new coach is very stealthy. He has heavy drapes that when closed up won't let light in so it goes to follow that it won't let light out either Making it much more stealthy at night. I understand that the OP has changed his original "Stealth " ideal to just "no decals" . In that case virtually all manufacturers are heading this way. They are all heading to a more automotive look. Something I certainly welcome ,but it should not be confused with true stealth.

- NaioExplorer III don't want to be stealthy, in the sense of camping secretly. I just don't like decals and advertising and such, and I don't like to stand out in a parking lot. I don't camp in places where an AC is needed :).
The 170 and Davydd's are more my cup of tea! And yes, the Sprinters have the big advantage of already being high-tops. - BudJExplorer"Sportsmobile and now Advanced RV can make the most stealthy motorhomes."
Not really. Park a Roadtrek 170 (shown above) or 190 next to a Sprinter B and the Sprinter B will not look so stealthy.
Bud - Mich_FExplorerIt depends on how far you take "look like a regular van".
Something like this could pass for a conversion van.

I would imagine there are others that would look less RV like.
