At what temp do you remove water hose?

If the overnight low is 28F or 30F do you really disconnect the water hose outside? I am doing it now but am wondering if i am being abundantly cautious. At what temp do you disconnect outdoor plumbing while staying in the rig?
  • Both our water hose and the sewer hose are only hooked up when I need to fill my water tank or empty my waste tanks. This goes for Winter or Summer travel. I have a high capacity water pump and it provides more than enough water pressure so there is no advantage to keeping a hose connected to park water.

    I ONLY run off of on-board pump.......always.

We do the same. As a bonus, you'll never come back to a flooded coach because a water line developed a leak while you're out. We never leave the pump on when not using water.
  • :) Hi, several times I went to flush and there was no water so I turned on my water pump. Later in the morning I removed my frozen water hose. Put hose in shower to defrost. Never hurt my trailer or the hose. Still using the same hose that froze several times.

    X2, never used "city water"
  • Old Biscuit’s practice is the safest way no matter the outside temp and I follow it.

i disconnect, drain and store if the forecast is for a few degrees above freezing because my location may be colder than the forecast. it takes what, 5-min to disconnect?

  • Yes, I would unhook at those temps!
We've only had temps in the high 20 overnight and there are puddles of frozen water everywhere.
I hate doing those kinds of repair so I take no chances.
