Atwood Gas Electric Switch wiring

Was doing some repairs and the wires in the back came off. Can anyone send me pictures of the back of their switch? The red jumper wire is still in place, but I have a single white wire, a single blue wire, a red wire, a blue/white wire connected to multiple wires and another white wire connected to others wires, with wire cap. 5 terminals to figure out. Thank you

2003 Four Winds 5000, E450 chassis
  • Thank you, but the colors don't all match up. I looked at another 2003 rig today with the same switch, and of course, they didn't use the same color wires. I'll have find 12V and Ground tomorrow with house battery on. I do have the blue wire. Will have to chase down the rest of wires with a meter or tester from the WH connector. thanks again.
  • My apologies.....
I just noticed that you have a 2003 model year Four Winds

That would mean you have a 3E version (if 10 gallon) or a 9E or lower version (if 6 gallon) which would have completely different wiring scheme.

The 120V AC Electric side should be 'direct' wiring and the propane side would use 12V DC
But you stated 'jumper wire' still connected ????
Wouldn't be any need for 'jumper wire'

So post exact model number.... (outside compartment or on a data sheet inside RV)
    Examples
    GC6A-8E or GC10A-3E

Unless your Class C was actually built in 2004 on a 2003 chassis
2004 Atwood redesigned Water Heaters using DC for controls on both electric and propane.
    RED wire------12V DC POS
    GREEN wire----12V DC NEG/GND
BLUE wire-----12V DC to Fault Light from circuit board
WHITE wire----12V DC to circuit board for electric function ---circuit board then sends DC power to relay that triggers 120V AC to element
Orange wire---12V DC to circuit board for propane fucntion

All wiring to/from circuit board and On/Off Switches is connected via wire nuts at backside of water heater----so look there for which wires are connected together if you have the 'new Atwood version'
  • I'll have to check tomorrow for WH model, but the back of my switches, including jumper wire, looks exactly like that. Will confirm year model as well. I only say 2003, because it's on the title and what previous seller said, probably for same reason.
  • Just checked, Ford manufacturer date 8/03, so house is probably 04. The switch is the same as pictured. I took the wires out of the loom and wiring is easy as can be. Thanks for your help.
