ATWOOD LEVELEGS

We have a 2006 Fleetwood Storm with Atwood levelegs which stopped working, we were led to believe the touch pad controller was bad as it had no power and would not work we replaced the touch pad P/N 66323 and the levelers worked for a short time and then quit, is there something else we might look at or check to see what could be wrong? Thanks for all the much needed help!

  • I too have this problem with no power to my keypad. Tried to diagnose. Have power to the control panel (12v) have power to the touchpad (12v) but the touch pad does not turn on. The only item I cannot seam to locate is an inline fuse from the control panel to the ignition wire?? I found a diagram that showed this but not sure if mine has it. I am assuming this inline fuse protects the unit from the signal telling the control board the engine is running. I took it to the shop before leaving town and Atwood instructed them to replace the touch pad which they did and it did not solve the problem. I left town with out operating levelegs. Any help is much appreciated.
  • @ Lobstah, so did you have to replace that control panel also or just clean it up?

  • Excellent. I'd still check those connections I mentioned for corrosion. The reason I say this is that I went through similar problems with my Atwood system, and it was "fixed" twice by doing a reset, only to return to the "problem" state later on. If it needed a reset, there was a reason it needed a reset. These things don't just jump up and lose their mind, so to speak :)

    Good luck,

  • A reset was performed and the newly installed touch pad works, so far!!
  • Never heard of a touchpad going bad.
If you look up under the dash on the driver's side, along side the left wall where it meets the front end, you should see a little black box, about 2" thick and 6 " wide by maybe 8" deep. It should be screwed to the wall. It holds the controller for the touch pad, and it is a very poor design, as any condensation on the inside of the driver's windows will run down the wall and collect in the bottom of that black plastic box, where it shorts out the Atwood controller. Also, all of the connections go into that controller on the outboard side. You'll see thick wires for each jack, power cables, and the cable from your touchpad. The connectors are also very susceptible to corrosion due to the same issue of being mounted up next to the wall. I'd climb under there with a mirror and a flashlight and see what's going on. If you see corrosion on the wires/plugs connecting to the box, you need to pull it out and take a look at the circuit board.

None of this is hard, it's just a tough place to get to.

  • Just prior to this latest problem we had a new inverter installed anyone feel this may have had something to do with the leveleg touch pad problem?????
