Avoiding garden state parkway south

287 is a long loop around, but I would say it's much shorter and less aggravating than going all the way out to 476 and then back East on the PA Turnpike.
Maybe only take the Parkway South to I-80 and then take 80 East to the Turnpike?
To me, the Parkway always (except Summer weekends) seems to be a better ride than the Turnpike. YMMV :)
