Avoiding New Orleans on I10

Came through Baton Rouge today, Friday, at 4pm. Took an hour and a half from the west side to the east, never got out of first gear. Planned on hitting it at 1pm but my coach had an electrical issue, wouldn't start, and we got delayed for two hours this morning.

Great fun.... Staying at Lakeside RV Park in Livingston tonight and hoping the coach starts tomorrow.

They are improving I10 and I12 but where the work is not done or in progress it can be rough. I agree it is much better than 10 years ago.

i 10, i12, i55 & i59 are good highways (save for the construction thats around baton rouge)....there not torn up and wash board like they were 10 years ago

I came East last Feb and took the I-12. Don't remember what time of day it was and don't remember any traffic issues---but after living in the Wash, DC area who would notice! Pavement was a little rough.

Americandream...I'll keep that in mind.


bshpilot....We've stayed at the French Quarter Park three times. Nice park.

Thinking we might try the one at the Lake this time.

the shortest route from texas to florida is via i10 east to i12 east, i10 east....
ONLY if you intend to go down to NoLA would i suggest keeping on i10 east the entire way.

we do the run on our way to florida or virginia a couple of time a year.

that said - if you wanna go to NoLA there is a GREAT RV Resort 5 blocks from the French Quarter...it's not cheap, but the staff is friendly helpful & kind, the place is spotless too !

Just came across I-10 from Arizona to Florida. If you happen to hit Lousiania and need a place to stay A+ Motel and RV park is a 10. It is at mile marker 20 and 2 miles south of I-10, was $30.00 for night. Left Lousiania and took the 12, give yourself pleanty of time could not believe traffic was crazy.
