I think we'd be disgusted if we saw the insides of municipal water tanks. So I've been told. So if your stuff stays stuck to the tank, just sterilize it with bleach and move on, IMO.

This makes me feel a lot less anxious about it, as I was planning to see how it works as is. I also wondered about how much stuff gets into all the tanks and pipes leading to our faucets.
