If it's really dull, you may need to wet sand it with #600 paper, then heavy duty rubbing compound, then polish. I found the best way to access it is with a folded 8' step ladder leaning in the edge above the side view mirrors on each side. It really is tough to get at.
I also use a heavy-duty machine polisher as the orbital just didn't cut it.
