In response to questions about the tire failure they were originals--Ameri***made by General. I carried 65 lbs as per recommendation. However, when I purchased the coach in January they only had about 30 lbs and may have never been checked since new!! So it is possible that they may have been underinflated for years. The other factor is Florida sun, although there is evidence that wheel covers had been used. When I called for service at Johnny Nelsons Tire Service in Parish, Florida and explained my situation one of the first things he said was "Are they 5 years old?" Since it is a 2001 he was right.
Although the service calls were $170 (night call) and $70 the insurance company,Gilbert Insurance, Underwriter American Securities, promptly reimbursed me after I faxed copies of the bill. Nice people to work with.
If anyone has suggestions for tires for the dualies I'm sure we would all be interested. I'm leaning to a Michelen which I understand has softer sidewalls.
