Lightning, there's a subject that will draw discussion. IMHO it is probably best to unplug your unit during anticipated heavy electrical activity. When we sit in most RV parks, we are sitting on top of an electrical grid, and many times our units are the tallest things around. I have not personally been struck by lightning in my unit, but I have been darn well scared a few times especially down in Florida. I bought an electrical gizmo years ago which shuts off automatically for low voltage and fries itself if a massive surge comes in on the line, such as one would expect from a near-miss from lightning. Direct hit is a different story though. They tell golfers not to stand under trees when lightning is near, and to lie flat on the ground in as low a spot as they can find.
