I use what is called a "Fresnel" lens. Camping World sells them in two sizes, I use the largest size. I have used them for so long the view is normal to me and yes I believe it could be useful while backing. cheeze1 is correct, the lens is just a large sheet of plastic which installs with water or windex and a paper towel. no need to make modifications and costs less than 15 bucks for the large last time I looked. You should be able to get on at any good RV dealer in their parts department. Just remember to pay attention to the markings which identify the TOP and install the right side up. I like it most for seeing the traffic behind me as I drive. I don't have a camera and do not feel the need for one on such a short rig. IMHO, you will be amazed if you have never used one before.
