cheeze1 - I bought my first one at Radio Shack on sale for $29.95. You aim it at any object and press the button and you get a readout of the surface temperature. Any tire that happens to be running low on air pressure will create heat. So...I merely walk quickly around the unit and point the infrared thermometer at the tread and take a reading. The hottest tire will be the one doing the most flexing. I usually expect the tire to be about 5-10 degrees warmer than ambient.
