RichardKaren, My theory is that the Bilstiens are a high quality gas pressurized shock and that another high quality brand gas pressurized shock will likely perform as well (or at least you won't notice the difference). Bilstein has very technical and descriptive advertising about their internal valving. I'll bet you might be able to match the features with a little research. Good luck
