2,000 Miles of Texas
After starting a 2 week trip attending a family deal in Dallas (stayed at the former Lake Lewisville SP) a few weeks back, weather forecasts caused us to change our next destination from Branson via Oklahoma (w/ good route suggested by CharlesOK that we will surely use in coming trips) to the Texas Hill country. Garner SP was new goal, and weather permitted stays in McKinney Falls, Garner, Goliad, and Brazos Bend SPs, as well as the county park in Port Aransas w/ RVs on the Gulf water’s edge, a day trip to Mexico border town at Eagle Pass, and lots of gooood Tex-Mex food!
Our TL 213 seemed perfect for negotiating all of the major Texas urban zones – and we went thru all of ‘em – as well as enjoying the scenic country of a really great state for Rving. Every SP we saw was superb.
Averaged 10.5 to maybe 11.3 mpg. Learned to trust our rig a bit more: when the generator quit after running a few minutes with the AC while at a dog park in Plano, I kept tripping the genset breaker and cranking to no avail – finally had to give up, and half-heartedly hoped it was some hi-voltage charge “floating around” (I ain’t no electrical guru) and it would reset when we plugged into shore power again. When the low fuel warning lite came on it was clear that the generator had been doing its job and prevented us from draining down the last few gallons of gas!
Hope all of you are well, and glad to see some new B+ owners joining in. CharlesOK, how was Beaver Bend and the Winery trip - that region is still high on our radar?
