One thing I like already; is the insurance is $325 cheaper per year!
Keith
Keith's statement reminded me that I was going to alert fellow RVers about a deal I found. You probably all have shopped around but just in case this was missed I thought I should mention this.
I went to Geiko for an insurance quote after my previous insurer Met Life' RV premium kept going up (rapidly). I received 5 or 6 discounts through Met Life by virtue of having purchased through my employer. I did save money initially but the RV seemed to be getting too expensive. I went to Geiko and my premium dropped from $450 to $185 every six months. Even after dropping to $500 deductible from $1000 and going to $250/$500k limits from 100/300 the price was lower. The 100% replacement covergage for 7 years was the same but the Geiko RV contents coverage was better.
I was suspicious of such a big difference so I ordered the insurance and delayed the start for one month to give me time to review the policy and ask questions. I came up with 5 and all were answered to my satisfaction except one. Metlife allowed me to increase the value of my RV over the sales order price to cover fixed add-ons I added later (about $6k). Geiko did not have that option. In fact they had no mechanism to account for those additions. They don't cover them as "contents" because contents was described as "what would fall out if you removed the roof and turned the RV up-side down". Oh well, at least the person admitted they don't have an answer to that issue. The 60% reduced price of the insurance was too good to pass up.
A couple of additional notes; Progressive was closer to Geiko than Met Life but all the rants on the web about Progressive claim issues turned me off. Also Geiko was more expensive on the autos than I currently pay. If I insured everything through Geiko, including the house, the price would have been the same as I was paying for everything through Met Life. That's why only the RV is insured through Geiko.
I hope this was helpfull.
