Wife sewed the curtains. We also did the valances. We removed the carpet and left the vinyl. Then put down an underlayment of quiet walk with vapor barrier. It is quiet, soft and warmer. I strongly recommend using underlayment of the type used for laminate. Tape the seams and staple down. The vinyl is Allure from Home Depot. Ours is the hickory. I have the cherry in my home office. I like this stuff. Wears like iron, quiet and easy to install. Removal of the carpet was hard work. They used a lot of staples and I had to remove from under the slide. Change blades on skill knife many times when removing carpet or cutting the vinyl is my best recommendation. I should have changed twice as frequently and I thought I changed a bunch.
