Cheeze, those should work fine as backup lights. For driving/fog lights, it depends what you're looking for. There are some excellent spot-beam driving lights that use the same bulbs as the luxury cars.
As far as the rusting screws are concerned, the original screws are cheap zinc-plated screws thatl eventually are prone to rusting. Easily replaced with new zinc screws from Home Depot or better yet, stainless steel replacements.
