Burl,my roof is what they call TPO (Thermoplastic polyolefin) and has a felt backing, I know it's not rubber. All you do is use a heat gun ( gently ) until the goop is soft and remove the bulk of it with a plastic scraper. No need to get it all off because the eternabond will stick well to it. The eternabond sticks so well that once you touch it to the surface its to late to reposition it ,so make sure its on the 1st time. I like the product so much I bought a spare
50'x 6" roll and have it stored in a new empty sealed paint can for my next RV.
For anybody looking at the scissor jack on the front of my RV and thinking that it sticks down to much,I have it lowered a little to take the picture,it normally tucks up level with the bottom of the bumper and can not be seen.
Chas,I purchased the hatch on ebay, I beleive it's for a boat or something , but it's fiberglass with alum trim and the same color as the coach and it works great.
