I had spilled acid on the steel battery support tray early on and did a moderate cleanup and painting. About a year ago, we recleaned with baking soda, got to bare metal, and put 3 coats of rustoleum. It looks good and I did my best to inspect welds. Also bought a better strap to hold battery tight.
Of course, the access door is too small to get at the battery except to measure its voltage.
Cheese, I think Gene has those battery top fillers that let you pump in the right amount of water.
