burlmart - Sorry, I cannot answer your question on how to determine the difference in roofs. All I know is the 2002 brochure I saved says I have a "one piece rubber roof". I have a 2006 brochure and it says "One Piece TPO Roof (Energy Star Labeled and Approved)" whatever that means.
So far, knock on wood, mine has been trouble free. It does get dusty and dirty on the roof, but does not seem to bother it at all. I have merely taken a soft bristle brush and washed it and all seems okay.
