Because they are small everything inside needs to be very tightly fitted, smart configuration, downsized components, less wasted space. Like desktops vs notebook computers.
B's have better mpg, can be used as a car and can fit into parking spaces in the city.
It is us older people, the baby boom bulge who are "on the move" but arent taking the "kids" along. And that same demographic are leaving their big suburban homes and moving into city housing that may not have anyplace to park a big RV.
