Bad weather coming, I think I am ready

Weatherman said a bad ice storm in on the way, he says up to a half inch of ice. Also said a very good chance of total power loss for the area. It is raining outside now and already everything covered in ice. I brought the MH home from the storage building and backed it up to my garage. Already have the cords ran into the garage. If the power goes off, all I have to do is plug in the central heat (we have natural gas heat, just need power for the blower) and the fridge then start up the generator. If that does not work I will just move out to the MH. I have a 100 gallon tank full of fuel so that should last for a few days. Also have lots of food so I am about as ready as I can get. It is nice to have the MH for backup.

I still have 5 years before I can join the snowbirds but I am already counting the days.

    I am the OP. I have hit bad weather a few times on the road. I park until the roads are clear. The cold does not bother me. I put two light bulbs in the side compartments that have plumbing in them. Just keep the hot water heater going and the heat going inside the MH, also leave the cabinets open inside where there is plumbing. I am not going to drive my MH in ice or snow, I am not in that big of a hurry to get anywhere. I have the pink stuff in the lines right now so a little snow and ice is not going to hurt it sitting in the drive. I have covered storage so I will take it back there as soon as this mess clears up. I think the sun will do more damage than snow and Ice.

    OK just read the thread and everyone is enjoying the weather,be snow or sunshine depending where you are! O P has MH backed up to house for reserve power to house and aux. plans to bug out to MH if needed. What other precautions does one take to protect MH in severe snow/ice /temp conditions, so as not to damage MH? I Live in Houston do not worry about it too much but if I was out on a trip and became caught in it I would like some ideas of what to do!

    We have received 3 inches of snow on top of the ice since I posted the pictures this morning. But heck, this is Arkansas, it will be 70 degrees in two weeks.

    Wow hope the weather ain't too bad, just ran all three gennys, hot and ready in case. Now it's all happy-camping

    We were visiting relatives in Conroy (about an north of Little Rock) in January 2003 (our first full timing year) and it got down to 9 degrees the first night we were there.
    Being a complete newbie I didn't take the proper precautions so the water lines and gray water valve froze.
    First and only time for a freeze up.

    Right now there's about a foot of snow on the ground and our MH here in Branson Mo. We're trying to get out of here on the 11th, don't know if it'll be clear enough to get on the road.

    Anyone that remembers the space shuttle Challenger tragedy in 1986 knows that we do get ice in Florida. Sometimes it just happens, as does the occasional snow in central Florida.
    During hurricane season we have used the motor home to leave the area. Secure the house, load up the coach, and head away from the storm.
    Since we do travel a lot during the Winter months, we have been caught several times in snow and ice storms. Right now we are sitting in Maryland and expect some of the ice to reach us. No problem just sit back and relax and hope the ice does not mess up the satellite reception. :B

    We had our bad weather up here - 3' of snow and -7°F this morning, but at least the sun is shining. The wind was from the NE off of Lake Superior which meant "lake enhanced" snow. I'll take snow over ice any day.

    Already moved back to Florida. May have to put on a heavier "T" shirt in the next few days. LOL
