You can easily get a DP for what you are trying to spend. I just picked up a 99 holiday rambler endeavor 38' DP with the 5.9 cummins and allison transmission for $32k. It came with a huge living room slide, tons of storage and drives like a dream. Also included was a 2006 honda CRV toad, all set up to tow with towbar, shield, brake system etc. Took it out for the first time this weekend after making the switch from a 1994 P30 chassis motorhome. Wow, what a difference between the two. I will never own another gas motorhome.
