Thanks everyone for the heads-up and hints.
A DP, I thought, was well outside my price range, and my lack of knowledge about diesels (other than diesel tractors I've had), further steers me to gas. But, I definitely want to open my mind to those of you who have made the switch and say the DP is far better. I've heard that diesels will run longer and are tougher, but that maintenance and engine repairs can be considerably more expensive than gas engines. Is this true? Also, we have a friend who had a Class B diesel for several years and when he and his wife went for a newer Class C this past year, they purposely stayed away from diesel this time to get a gasser. I'll send him an email asking why the switch. Very confusing... Can someone please touch on the subject of maintenance/repair expense of diesel vs gas? Much appreciated.
The 2001 8.1L Workhorse we've been eying does say that the brake recall has been done, so if we proceed with that one, I'll make sure to ask for the paperwork. But then again, couldn't a GM dealer check the VIN to see if the recall has been done?
And thanks JayGee for the post that the 8.1L was available in the old chassis. This is the first time I've heard that.
