And thanks glamisorbust for that detailed difference explanation. In my older A & C, I definitely had the screaming gas engines, but these were before O/D transmissions. I had hoped it was better now with the O/D, especially with the higher torque 8.1L. At least that was my hope anyway.
With your suggestions I've begun looking for diesels, and I am seeing some in my price range, but they are older units. I did find one close enough to me to drive to and I've scheduled to look at it this weekend. It looks well cared for and only about 70k miles, but it is a 1995. Having a machine that complex that is 20 years old is a concern to me. How much of a concern should that be? Thanks again to all.
I had a 1994 PaceArrow for about 12 years on a P30 chassis. I replaced every part on the front end anything that henderson supersteer made was on there with a steer safe and a henderson rear trac bar and Koni shocks all around. After all that it drove just ok. Now I just purchased a 16 year old DP I flew to florida and drove if to Connecticut. Our first drive was a hour away to a beach side campground for two days to get used to it and some r&r

Next we drove 14 hours straight getting 9.8 mpg. Stopped at a campground in Va to shower and a little sleep than a early start to lancaster pa.

Nothing fancy here but right in the town of intercourse amish country. After a couple days here 5 hr ride home. All this without a single issue.
