Our Itasca Class C came that way as wired by Winnebago - when you turn the ignition switch on, a continuous duty solenoid gets activated to connect together the coach battery(ies) and the engine starting battery. I was under the impression that most Class C motorhomes were wired that way?
I changed out the stock solenoid for a more robust one with silver alloy contacts to stop an intermittent coach battery charging problem while traveling down the road.
