It means a PD converter with a wizard may do pretty well for charging.
Don .... I'm not so sure with regards to the floating of Ron's new batteries.
Ron's new in-series 6-volt batteries require an average float voltage of 13.5 volts (temperature dependent).
IMHO, the PD will under-float Ron's new batteries a lot of the time. What this means is the PD will be slowly discharging the new batteries whenever the PD is floating them - by an average of 0.3 volts too low - instead of maintaining their charge on average, like floating is supposed to do.
The PD's 13.2 volts float value is targetted for wet cell lead acid batteries and will properly float only certain AGM batteries (such as Lifelines). However, Ron's new batteries require a higher voltage float ... 13.5 volts. That's why I recommend making sure that whatever AGM batteries one buys require a float voltage that will be provided by whatever charger one is going to use on them.
The issue may be subtle, but it's real, nonetheless ... especially for long times on float.
