I'm not sure that I would worry that much about the float voltage if the periodic equalization works as advertised.

Clearly, the PD is aimed at wet cells and specifically set up to avoid any chance of water loss.

Finally, I have to keep reminding myself that this device is for shore power and thus speed of charge is not as great an issue.

I suspect that it will do very well. The problem with all things battery is that it takes years to know if you made a mistake! :(
