We have a 2007 model, 2000 watt, Tripp-Lite charger/inverter in our rig. I will need to do my own homework with that one.
Thanks for the clarity.
That is a fine inverter/charger. I looked very hard at Tripp-Lite(TL) before choosing a Magnum 1012 1000W/50A inverter/charger because I wanted Pure Sine Wave AC. I use a 100AH AGM.
Is the TL set for 100A charge rate? It should be because your AGMs will soak up Amps. Yes, AGMs do charge faster if you can give them the Amps they want. This will result in less genny time and save some fuel in the process. Go ahead and use the red charger as well. This should bring your charge rate up to 50% of your AHs.
On Volts, simply make sure none of your chargers use an 'equalization' stage. An AGM setting will usually avoid equalization. I like to view the Volt specs as a speed limit. Charge in the morning on hot days when the batteries are coolest.
Are you aware that your AGMs have a resting/full charged spec of 13.1V? I say this to warn you about the battery level gizmos out there that use LEDs. These are set to report FULL at 12.65V. Your AGM may only be 75% charged if you go by these gizmos. You need a digital Voltmeter with 2 decimal readout.
