I've not done this myself--but if you want rapid charging add an external rectifier that is direct connected to the Alternator. Here is one: quicktfier
I have 2 #8 wires, one is OEM the other is added on. I do see up to 70 amps (my hall effect ammeter reads no higher than that).

I was just wondering if I could run another line from my alternator directly to the house batteries to take full advantage of the 180 amp alternator with out hurting anything. I'm not sure if Pianotuna is describing this with his switchable paths? I was thinking with a heavy wire and a switch I would be able to pump more amps directly into the house batteries when needed for a recharge between GC's.
