Batteries

I have a 2001 Fleetwood Class A. I recently, within the past 2 months, put in new batteries for the engine and the coach. They all are now dead. I have been using AC so there has been no draw on them. I'm going to purchase a battery charger today and get them all charged up. What could be causing the drain? I have owned this for over a year and never had any problems with this.
  • I'm near a Camping World so I just scheduled to have the converter checked. Think I'm still going to buy a charger for some peace of mind.

Also check to see if they were installed correctly...If installed in REVERSE you may have blown the REVERSE POLARITY fuses in the 12VDc Power Distribution Panel.

Bad news is if the batteries have been setting in a full discharge mode for any length of time chances are irreversible damage may have been been done to the batteries. Use a multimeter to read the battery DC voltage at the terminals...

  • If you haven't had any trouble up till now, chances are the NEW batteries weren't fully charged when you installed them, or you have a bad connection made with the installation. If you get battery charger, get a good "Smart" charger.
  • Sounds like your converter is not working. I would have it checked.
Either a mobile tech or a service center.
Also check all of your circuit breakers.
How about your battery disconnect switch?
