Batteries

Last year in March on our way to and from Las Vegas Nascar I had trouble with my starting batteries so after my new tires I will install two new starting batteries. On three of my vehicles I have installed Optima Batteries, in the Jeep the Optima has been in for 9 years and in the Corvette the Optima has been in for 7 years. My question to the forum is would the Optima batteries work for starting batteries? My coach batteries are the Lifelines gel cells.
  • They didn't work for me! Because I didn't start my RV enough! Those batteries need to be started and charged frequently.
  • do you off road the jeep ?
optima are rugged, great batteries for jet skis and off road vehicles

for on the highway especially high torque diesel engines
i would get the lifelines or similar battery
can the optima do it ? yes
but you will get more starting power for the same or maybe less money by getting a conventional AGM battery

Lifeline is AGM similar to Optima.

And likewise I recommend Lifeline starting battery for superior performance and higher capacity than Optima. Or similar is fine such as Sears Platinum which is an AGM made by Odyssey.
  • Hi,

Optima will work--but so will any other AGM of similar size--and likely the footprint may allow at least 30% more capacity than the spiral cell design of the Optima.
