If you want to know what makes six volt (or for that matter 12 volt) Golf car batteries (True Deep Cycle) better than Marine/Deep cycle, it is the fact that they are designed for DEEP CYCLE use, where as Marine/Deep cycle are designed for starting boat motors first and not really deep cycle use.
If you want to know what makes six volt better than 12, $$$$$$ is the answer. fewer dollar signs.
If you want to know what makes say Trojan, better than _____. That would be the plates.. The purity of the lead how well they are built, thickness and overall quality of the alloy (And yes it is an alloy). Attention to details in the construction.
About the only thing I do not think affects it is the acid, that is more or less consistant across all brands. But again, it might be possible to get "Contaminated" acid for less so that too could be a factor.
