Battery Suggestions

I have a 1999 Wini Cheiftain with a Ford F53 Chassey. Triton V-10 engine. My Chassey battery finally went dead after 7 years. What is in there is a Duralast 65-DLG, cold cranking amps of 875, cranking amps of 1000. Went to autozone and they had a Duralast 65-DLS. which has cranking amps of 875, as opposed to my old bat of 1000 cranking amps. Any suggestions. Do you think 875 as opposed to 1000 would make a difference? Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I put in the biggest battery that would fit.
    X-2, a gel cell battery!

I suspect both batteries are the same.. The clerk at Auto Zone does not know how to read the labels is all. He Read CCA as CA.

however if you want better, Check out DEKA or Trojan or Interstate instead of Duralast.. Likely all 3 can fit a higher capacity battery in the tray for you.

That said.. Duralast are made in mexico.. A company I'd not heard of before.

I'd go with Deka. East Penn battery company, US made of US lead. (And if you think I'm just saying that, Crawl under my rig and read the label on MY new starting battery,,, or house batteries.... Yup, I took my own advice)
  • As posted in other thread >>> Costco is good place to buy batteries.
I have TWO of 1000 amp batteries in my Powerstroke from Costco.
I remember paying about $70 a piece and 100 months warranty.
Also beware about different amp ratings.
    CA is always higher than
CCA what shows amps in low temperatures.
  • Thanks to all. My Duralast, lasted almost 10 years but went with an Interstate this time
