when you jack up these RVs oe buses use wood blocks 4 by 4 and I put them under the axles and I also put more in places. I hate going under these vehicles. wood blocks are the answer some idiots use concrete blocks not good

Back in the 80's my Dentist friend was working under his DP. He had it aired up to provide more room to work. I am not sure what he was installing but it involved using a drill underneath the coach. Apparently he hit an air line and the coach came down. It did not kill him but it cut off the blood supply to his brain long enough that it was like having a stroke. At 32 years old, his career was over as a dentist because of permanent nerve damage that affected his arm and hand movement. In an instant his life was changed and he never recovered from the physical damage and financial loss.
Do not use concrete blocks, rely on your leveling jacks, or anything else that is subject to failure while you are under the coach.

That is exacty why I bought 12 ton jack stands, MH goes up and the stands go under the axle. 12 ton is over kill on a 16000 pound MH, but I figure my life and well being are worth it.

Careful with the jack stand weight capacity. More than likely rated capacity is the pair, not individual. The manufactures are probably very conservative with rated capacities just avoid pushing the envelope too much.

For the readers that have never experienced it, concrete will fail, catastrophically, very quickly. In other words it will crack without warning. Harbor Freight or Northern Tool carry stands with weight ratings of over 20 tons. Be safe and go camping.

The news said he was a mechanic working on a 1973 Winnie. The coach rolled forward crushing him. They didn't say what caused the coach to move other than mechanical failure..Always block and chock.....Dennis

For the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would attempt to go under a vehicle that was jacked up without properly blocking the wheels and adding substantial jackstands or wooden blocks. As a child of the 70's, I remember reports of so many people getting crushed under vehicles because their bumper jack dropped the car when it rolled forward/backward. First thing I bought when I started driving was a pair of wheel ramps so I could change my own oil....I also made sure that the wheels were blocked and the parking brake was applied. Safety first!!

I'm thinking it wasn't jacked up.

So sad. I'm sort of lazy though. I have always taken mine to a dealer and let them do it. Yes, its expensive but I'm not going to get hurt from it. Just me own thoughts.
