Bedroom radio poltergeist

Not much you can do other than replacing the TV or radio since they are on the same frequency. You might try hanging a sheet of Reynolds Wrap in front of the radio when you use the TV or get a Priest to perform and exorcism. Lol!

I've got a similar problem in my house. My wife has an Apple alarm clock/ radio/ iPod mount combo next to her bed. If I hit the pause button on my 17 year old Toshiba DVD player, her alarm clock starts beeping

The infrared remote coding for the Vizio has a few codes that are the same for the radio. Considering we probably have more remotes for devices in the coach than forks in the silverware drawer not surprised it doesn't happen more often. I've got two TV's, DVD, Sat receiver, dash radio, dash camera monitor, and awning LED lights = 7. Forks other than plastic = 4.

Got a make and model of the radio or could you post a pic of it? Might have an owner that could point out the sensor location on the radio. Cover it with a piece of black or other opaque color tape and problem solved. Kind of like fixing the dash "Check Engine" light.

Does your poltergeist at least have decent taste in music?

It's an Audiovox AWM-930. I looked in the manual and there is no mention of a remote. I'm wondering if it isn't something to do with the antenna connection picking up a signal. Its just weird.

Chances are that they made another model of radio that did have the remote when yours was built. Your RV manufacturer ordered a model without the remote but the circuit board inside has the provision. It's cheaper for Audiovox to make the same unit with and without the remote and just change the stickers and labeling on the box.

Look at the documentation at the END of the Owners Manual -- there is an ACCESSORY LIST for your radio that part way down lists "Unified Remote Control -- P/N 0892325 as an available accessory.

Thanks. I didn't notice that. I taped over the sensor, twice. It still turns on if you point the remote at it, but it doesn't seem to be picking up the stray signals when I actually point the remote at the TV, like it was doing before. Hopefully, that will work. Next step will be using the metallic tape for ducts.

I have heard of such a thing only in my personal case it was a solution not a problem.. I have 3 TV's (two in the bedroom cause one is really a computer monitor but it can TV If I wish) One is a Samsung. Which I got off the "Scratch and dent" table but no remote.. THankfully it replaced a Samsung. same remote (Samsung only has one remote it turns out or rather one set of codes)

I got a new Pawn Shap special (Again no remote) for the main tv.. Turns out it uses the same codes as the "No Name" so my remote worked L)

Now how to solve your problem

YOu need two things.. One is your remote and the other is a piece of Gorilla Tape (or black electrical tape) about 1" square should do it.

Inspect the readio and see if you can spot the "Eye" (Sensor) test by holding the remote directly against the sensor and pushing a button.

WHen you find the "hot spot" for sure, and confirm it. Apply tape to cover'

Kind of like the Web Cam built into this computer.. If you hack it and turn it on in hopes of seeing me walking around the RV in an embarrassing state of dress.. You will see the back side of a piece of tape. nothing more. It's blocked. The ultimate "Turn off" for the camera.
