Bedroom slide lubrication

It's been a long time since I've seen a post on this thread but I need to ask for someone's help. I've had this god awful squealing while extending or retracting my bedroom slide and I need to know how to get to the slide mechanism under the carpeted board. Any help/advise/pictures, would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ours was "squealing" on a previous trailer. It was the slide seal making the noise, not the slide mechanism.

Before you tare into the floor, try lubricating the slide seals...especially the wiper.
  • The access to our coach's bedroom slide (07 National SeaBreeze), is located under a plywood panel located in the under/bed storage area. to get to ours, we empty all of the material stored under the bed, then lift the panel out, allowing full access to the slide and slide motor.
  • Wax the sides of the slideout and the rubber seals wont make noise when rubbing against them (if that's what the noise is from). It also keeps the sides from becoming scratched.
  • Thanks for the quick reply's. The seals are always dry lubed and walls waxed. I can't find where the carpeted plywood cover under the bed comes up at?? I drilled a wood screw in the front corners to try to gain access by lifting up but it only raises those corners slightly. Maybe the front center is wedged against the bed frame?
  • You might just call an RV repair shop and just ask them the question, then try to find it. Questions over the phone or a quick visit to the shop doesn't normally cost anything. I have a couple of reliable shops where I frequent, they never charge for questions. Good Luck.
  • You may find that the carpeted panel has screws holding it in. They will be around the perimeter of the panel. If you cannot find any, try using a magnet as it will stick to them. More than likely, it is the roller wheels that are squeaking, so be sure to place some cardboard under where you lube, to prevent dripping on the carpet.
  • I agree with others, but I've seen people use tire conditioner on the seals to keep them more "moist".
  • I used wax on the bottom of my bed room slide out.
    Worked great!!!!
  • When reading the topic heading, "Bedroom slide lubrication," the first thing that popped into my mind was "Astroglide." ;) But to get serious, I would suggest calling either the manufacturer or a servicing dealer for your brand, because they should be able to tell you quickly and easily how to access that area and what to look for.
