Best dump hose length

How long should my dump hose be?
  • My main is 20' and my extra is 15. Have only used extra 2 times in 15 years. Also rarely stretch the main to full 20'.
  • "How long should my dump hose be?"

20 feet has worked for me.
  • I carry a 10' and a 20'... either or both hooked together covers most dump outlets for me.
  • A 15' and 2 10' that can all be connected together. Have been in sites that I needed all 3. At a dump station, I usually just use one of the 10' ones.

Hook two together if you need more length. I now carry three hoses that can be connected. Have come across some strange RV parks. One in CO had the connections at the very front of the parking space.

Pretty much the generally correct answer. As has been stated, there are campgrounds/RV parks that, if the coach is placed right (or, to your satisfaction), the dump inlet will be 5-6' away from your connection on the coach. But, in others, the dump inlet will be as much as 20-25' away from your chosen positioning. In that case, neither a 10' or a 20' dump hose will work. BOTH of them, hooked together is your only way in that kind of situation. Hence, this is why we carry both.

  • Kind of a vague question - are you talking about a stinky slinky 3" hose or a small diameter hose from a macarator? Dump stations? Campgrounds?

The stinky slinkys usually come in pre-made lengths. I'd usually carry two to hook together if needed and that was always plenty. For a macerator discharge hose I bought 50' and cut it at about 17 feet. That works at home and for most campgrounds. I can hookup the longer length, if needed.
