Best gas card

I travel quite a bit in both motorhome and cars. I am interesting in your opinions on best credit card options. I know there are specific brands that have cards and loyalty cards and if you use a combination of those I would like to know but I am most interested in the credit card that gives discounts or cash back on fuel at any station where I use it. It would be a card I use exclusively for fuel and allows me to shop for best price and convenience and not lock myself into a particular brand. I appreciate all input. I use gas not diesel if that is significant.
  • Third on the PenFed, but you do not have to be ex-military. They even tell you how to get their card if you are not from a military background. The important part is that you get the 5% cash back for any gasoline or diesel purchase, at ANY brand station, as long as you pay at the pump. I use mine at Sam's Club, and Flying J and get their discount, and then get the PenFed discount on top of that. It does add up when you travel as much as we do.
  • X2 on Penfed. Instead of silly points and other 'offers' that may expire, they actually deduct a cash amount from your bill. 5% is a lot larger than 5 cents off a gallon like some people think is a good deal. With most prices over $4 you will save at least 20 cents a gallon.
  • I still think the PenFed (Pentagon Federal) credit card can't be beat. It's a Visa card that pays 5% back on fuel purchases. It has a few simple requirements. In order to get the card you have to open a Pentagon Federal Credit Union account. They require only $10.00 to open the account. Make sure you check the box on the application that says "electronic statements". If you don't, they charge you for a statement each month.

Second, you, a family member or friend had to be in the military. The application only asks for a name and doesn't do any verification.

Third, all purchases must be paid for at the pump. It's a rare occasion when we can't pay at the pump.

When you receive your bill, you'll see your purchases and then they subtract your 5%.
  • I don't use a specific gas card, but I do use a card that we get air miles for our usage. This works when we need to travel by air. Just about 2 months ago my wife traveled from Florida to New York and the total ticket cost us $25.00! If we did not add a couple of extras, the price would have been $5.00.

    Oh the card Case Southwest.
