If my engine battery was close to the house batteries, I would just use jumper cables to connect them together for the winter. The converter or a battery maintainer should keep all of them fully charged. Certainly one amp should be sufficient to supply all parasitic draws.
I was hoping to use my solar panel to keep the batteries charged this winter but the sun is just too low in the sky and the battery controller draws more energy than the panel collects. Over 24 hours. I switched off the solar and disconnected the batteries today. Will check them every month or so.
