We want to assume that electronic circuit in Trik-L-Start will give the starting battery some protection in case of converter overcharging, but the selling brochure gives no details about it.
This isn't a battery combiner. It is a trickle charger. It does not do what a "piece of wire" does:

Although, it is not the trickle charger's job to protect from a bad converter. What protects the house batteries from a bad converter? That is what protects the chassis battery from a bad converter.
You seem fixated on "bad converters." This thread is not about bad converters. That is the subject for a different thread entirely. Saying this product is not good because it fails to protect against a bad converter makes no more sense than saying it is a bad product because it does not protect from low tire pressure. Both are outside its scope or design.
