I bought a couple of those HF lock-on air chucks and they're really nice. I'd seen tire guys pop the air hose onto a valve and step away to do something else while it inflated. Wondered how. I found they aren't "universal" though. If there's not room to operate it, I can't add air the old-fashioned way by just pushing it to the valve an holding there. In the pic, looks like it readily comes apart to to remove the lock, but not so when I actually tried it.
I have one of the HF truck-type inflators with gauge that was linked above. It works well, but if the valve stem isn't metal, took one more hand than the LORD gave me to get everything in place and then work the paddle to apply air.
So far, I've resisted the temptation to say this, but today, I give up: With TIREMAN or BORG valves, the RVer can check and add air anywhere anytime with any gauge and any chuck. AND they don't seep the pressure away, It's now so easy to check tires that I do it much more often. I've gone to Before and AFTER a trip, not just Before, and it takes only a couple minutes. Thinking I'd like to catch a puncture when there's time to get it fixed than right when we're ready to roll. But I haven't found air loss. All Year, Friends! I verified pressure New Year's Day and I think I added a little (cheap HF pancake compressor currently $40 on coupon sale). Since then, only checked air. All year so far, many trips. It took me a long while to become a convert, but custom valves are totally worth it. Anything else is compromise.
