Best Way to Atlantic City from Memphis

Trying to decide whether to go I-40 to Knoxville and go north or cross the Mississippi River in SEMO and go north through Kentucky etc. Hoping to avoid DC traffic. Thoughts? Road Conditions? Thanks.
  • If you go I 95, remember that you can't go through the Balt tunnel, you will need to loop around Balt - we use the Key Bridge - I695
  • I go the Memphis to I 155-I 69-I79-I68-and in that way all time to avoid traffic. More miles but nice. Traffic at Louisville, a little in WV and then the next is in MD so it a easy way to go. You can run up 15 into Gettysburg and go E on PA TPK and you'll have Phila traffic. If you go through Phila on a Sunday morning it will be an easy trip.
  • I just don't see the issue. It's not an issue getting around DC on 495 and then 95 up to 295 and then shoot over to AC. Unless you have a need to do some sight seeing along the way, the easy routing should get you there without issue.
  • 40 to Knoxville---hit I-81 to the PA Turnpike I-76 to 42 in Philly and pick up the Atlantic City Expressway-----40 over those mountains in Eastern Tenn and Western NC isn't exactly a fun ride.

x2. the bay bridge tunnel and the ferry ride would add extra excitement to the trip.
